These floral paintings are a description of the chaos and complexity of nature in which it is only sometimes possible to find order and rarely to improve. But beauty or meaning do not always require order to be truthful, and truth does not require exactitude in rendering. I prefer the wild tangle and interconnectedness of life as my subject over the isolation of the single bloom from its visual context.
